**Class repeats on Tues Jan 12 at the same time (session 2) and Tues Jan 19 at the same time (session 3)
This 3-part online course (90 minutes each session) emphasizes the valuable role deliberation can play in educating stakeholders about various policy or program choices, and in weighing the tradeoffs, benefits and limitations of such choices.
Using an actual deliberation in one of the classes, participants will learn:
* the essential elements of a successful deliberative process
* when it's appropriate to use deliberation in a participatory process or on its own (and when it's not), and
* whom to engage among stakeholders.
Emphasis is also placed on how leaders can effectively use the outcomes from deliberation in the decision making process.
