Los Fabulocos with Kid Ramos takes the stage on Sunday, May 30th at the Orange County Market Place, the weekend swap meet at the O. C. Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. Concerts are at noon and 2 p.m. and held within the regular swap meet activity.
This band of seasoned musicians merges blues, rockabilly, surf and R&B with Norteno, Cumbia, Chicano and other North and Central American-styles into a liberating blend of cultures and sounds.
It’s fueled by the extensive experience of its members including Kid Ramos on guitar, a longtime member of the James Harman Band, who brings the American roots music to Los Fabulocos and lead vocalist and button accordionist, Jesse Cuevas, who brings the south of the border inflections through the harmonically rich Mexican accordion known as Musica Nortena, along with equal parts zydeco.
The fusion of Ramos, Cuevas, bassist James Barrios and drummer Mike Molina produces a sound that could best be described as Calimex.
Concert and swap meet admission is FREE with a canned food item to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Regular admission is $2. Children 12 and under are free.
