2nd Annual Rockin’ Bar –B- Q Open House At Winthrop Auto Repair
On Saturday, May 23rd, 2009, Mark Duplessis will once again host the Rockin’ Bar-B-Q as his way of saying Thank you to all his customers.
“We did the first Bar-B-Q Memorial weekend 2008 and it was huge success! Free Food and Music is always a good time!” Mark Duplessis owner of Winthrop Auto Repair.
Mark started Winthrop Auto Repair in 2007. He rented a small shop that had been vacant for a long time and turned it into what is now a thriving and upward moving Automotive Repair and Sales business.
“I was ready to run my own business and I had many offers for buildings from outside the Winthrop area. But, I wanted to stay close to my loyal customers who I had come to know so well over the years. “
The idea for the Rockin’ Bar –B-Q stemmed from Mark’s other passion as the Sound Engineer for the Short Bus Refugees, a Classic Rock and Blues band.
“SBR (Short Bus Refugees) has been playing together for about 2 1/2 years. Mark brought us all together and then one day the magic happened! We started living our dream of being professional musicians in Maine. Winthrop was our first public performance, our launching point and the idea of Mark’s Rockin’ Bar-B-Q just seemed like a great way to say thank you to all the people that support SBR and Live Music.” Jessi King, Manager and Singer of the Short Bus Refugees.
This year added to the musical line-up will be a couple of local artists including Van Lawton.
Van is the Bass player for the Short Bus Refugees, but, he also pursues a solo career playing his original music which has a Folk Rock edge. His musical prowess is outstanding and eclectic and truly enjoyed by all.
Worthy Bones from Augusta, will also take the stage with their rockin’ music. Come meet Eric, Rick, Steve and Aaron and get ready to party!
The Rockin’ Bar-B-Q starts at Noon at the Winthrop Auto Repair with Burgers, Hot Dogs, chips and soda ( while supplies last)…all FREE of CHARGE and open to ALL AGES!
The Music begins at 12pm with Van Lawton- Acoustic and continues throughout the afternoon with the Short Bus Refugees rounding out the day.
A good time with good friends and great music~Don’t miss out!~
