Friends of the S.F. Public Library's Richmond Library Campaign hosts the 2nd Annual Richmond (District) History Day. Explore the rich and diverse history of the Richmond District. Yes, it's true, the Richmond HAS history, and some of it will surprise you!
Admission and refreshments are free!
-- Live interviews with old-time residents
-- Historic photo exhibits
-- Presentation by local historians Lorri Ungaretti and "Woody" LaBounty
-- Free prize raffles
-- Silent auction fundraiser for FotSFPL
-- A walking tour following the program
Bring your granny, parents, aunts and uncles:
-- they may run into old friends!
-- the on-stage interviews and historical photos may trigger a story that gives you fresh insight into your family!
Bring your children so they can learn about their neighborhood!
- and most importantly -
Bring memorabilia:
...if you have memorabilia you are willing to donate, FotSFPL will collect materials for a time capsule to be buried in the renovated Richmond/Senator Milton Marks Branch Library.
...if you have old photos and other paper memorabilia, the Western Neighborhoods Project (a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of San Francisco's "outside lands," see http://www.outsidelands.org) will scan your items for their historical archives.
George Washington High School Alumni Association (that's me!) will also have a display. Stop by and say hi!
