- Classic car lovers mark your calendars to come celebrate the art and history of the automobile! Having set the precedent as a world class show and successful fundraiser for Hospice By The Bay, the Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance returns for it’s second year to the Marin Center Fairgrounds on May 16th, 2010.
The Fairgrounds rolling lawn promises to beautifully showcase 200 exotic and rare vehicles in 18 different classes and the lagoon will host a special exhibit of classic wooden boats. Porsche is the featured marque for this year’s event. Organizers are excited to announce that Janis Joplin’s 356 Porsche convertible will be on special display at the Concours brought all the way from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, OH. Also on display is the first Lexus LFA Supercar. There is only one currently in the US and it will be at the Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance!
While at the event, enjoy many other special exhibits including the Historic Commercial Vehicles display sponsored by AAA. Don’t miss Garbarino’s 1955 International 7 Step Garbage Truck, the 1946 Desoto Taxicab or the 1929 Buick Argentina Hearse. There will also be an exhibit of truly landmark historic Hot Rods and Kustoms. Blackie Gejeian, legendary Hot Rod builder and racer, now 83, will be in attendance with two of his famous cars: The Emperor and The Shishkebab Special along with several other hand picked historic Hot Rods. Check out cars for sale at the Car Corral, exhibitors of exceptional automotive products and services plus live music, food, and a special car related Art Exhibit. This event is a benefit for Hospice By the Bay. For more information about this wonderful organization please visit: www.hospicebythebay.org
