The Health Care Center for the Homeless, Inc. and the Femmes de Coeur will host the ‘2nd Annual Heart to Heart Gala’ to help raise awareness of health care service needs for the homeless and uninsured residents of Central Florida. The VUE at Lake Eola has joined the two organizations to serve as the presenting sponsor. The event will be held Sunday, November 6, 2011, 5:00-10:00 p.m., in the Ballroom at Church Street, 225 South Garland Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32801.
Since its inception in 1993, the Health Care Center for the Homeless, Inc. has provided medical services for community members in need while helping homeless individuals return to self-sufficiency. They have been heralded for the medical assistance given to men and women in more than 150 homeless camps in the woods of the tri-county area, and to Central Florida residents who are housed but uninsured. Femmes de Coeur is a not-for-profit organization of volunteers who raise funds to alleviate personal and emotional suffering of individuals living in Central Florida. Since being established in 1998, Femmes de Coeur has raised more than $1,000,000 in support of local non-profits.
“The partnership with Femmes de Coeur again this year helps empower us to continue providing quality health care services for the homeless and medically indigent people of our community,” notes Bakari F. Burns, CEO for Health Care Center for the Homeless. “We are also pleased to have the VUE at Lake Eola as our event’s sponsor.” The VUE is a residential skyscraper in downtown Orlando. The building opened in January 2008 and has about 200,000 square feet of space.
The event will feature silent and live auctions and the meal will be provided by BRIO Tuscan Grille.
Proceeds from the ‘2nd Annual Heart to Heart Gala’ will benefit the Health Care Center for the Homeless as they work to provide critical health care services for the most vulnerable members of our community. Their facility is located at the Orange Blossom Family Health Center, 234 North Orange Blossom Trail
Orlando, Florida 32805. Their eight service areas include: primary medical care, oral health services, behavioral health and substance abuse counseling, an on-site pharmacy, vision services, mobile health services, a residential TB shelter, and street outreach (the HOPE Team).
