2nd Annual Downtown Wilmington Brewgrass Festival November 10, 2007

BACKGROUND:
The 2nd Annual Downtown Wilmington Brewgrass Festival is a celebration of bluegrass music and craft brewed beer. The first event was an overwhelming success attracting more than 1,500 patrons, and this years festival promises to be even bigger. We have pushed back the date of the event to a cooler, slower time of year when Wilmington citizens are looking for activities that will bring them outside to enjoy the beautiful fall weather. We have also expanded both the musical line-up of the event, as well as the beer selections we plan to offer at this years event, which we hope will double last years attendance.

The Beneficiary:
The Downtown Business Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to support, promote, and unite Downtown Wilmington businesses. We are a membership-based organization who, through civic activism, annual special events, and private and corporate sponsorship are able to make downtown and viable and attractive location for over 100 business members.

The Brews:
Brewgrass is currently in the process of seeking out brewers, breweries, and distributors interested in showcasing their craft brewed beers. The goal of Brewgrass is to highlight the best of local, regional, and nationally brewed beers while offering a wide variety of beverages for every palette. More information will be announced as breweries are confirmed.

The Tunes:
Headlining this years event is Acoustic Syndicate, a nationally touring Bluegrass/Folk band originally from Western North Carolina. After years of being one of the premier bands within the national bluegrass/ jam band scene, they broke up in order to raise their families. After years of requests from pleading fans, Syndicate has decided to perform a handful of specially selected reunion shows, and DBA is ecstatic that they chose Brewgrass as their official reunion show in the Coastal Carolinas region!

Also appearing this year will be legends-in-the-making Larry Keel & Natural Bridge. This group is quickly becoming one of the most recognized and well respected bluegrass groups today. Natural Bridge has gained a fan base through their performances at major music festivals Bonnaroo, All Good Music Festival, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and most recently through their collaborations with musicians Keller Willams and bluegrass legend Del McCoury.

Brewgrass is also excited to feature bluegrass newcomers Carolina Still, as well as local favorites No Dollar Shoes and The Brothels.
