The festivities include the burning of the socks -- a spring tradition at the Museum -- plus live music by The Oyster Boys and Sly 45.

There will be an oyster shucking contest, yes, with prizes and sanctioned rules! Shuckers may wear finger stalls or gloves, use their own knives and carry an extra knife for use in case the first breaks. ALL knives used must have been approved by the Chief Judge prior to the contest.

There also will be family activities and exhibits that highlight the importance of the oyster to the health of the Chesapeake Bay as well as this area's unique maritime heritage.

General admission, $25 adult / $5 per child 13 - 18 years old / children 12 & under free

VIP admission, $40 per adult includes commemorative T-shirt and special oyster dish tastings from competing area restaurants.
