2D/3D: Paintings by Keith Mayerson, Sculpture by Kent Henricksen
Mayerson’s paintings have been described as pop culture narratives, as well as contemporary icons. Calling his work sensual and earnest, The New York Sun wrote, “Mr. Mayerson manages to create surprise and beautiful translations into oil paint.” His work has been seen in solo and group shows throughout the country and has been reviewed in distinguished periodicals.
Kent Henricksen’s glazed porcelains, some featuring text, have been exhibited internationally. He said that he strives to, “create a broader dialogue by focusing on the interplay between both high and low culture. I’m interested in constructing a discourse or new history by taking bits and pieces to create an enduring narrative or non-history.” He was the subject of a 2007 biography by art critic and freelance curator Bob Nickas.
The exhibition is organized by Elaine Berger for the museum’s Contemporary Collectors Circle.
