ADVANCE RELEASE
24th Annual Kalorama House and Embassy Tour
Sunday, September 21, 2008, 12:00 - 5:00 p.m.

The Woodrow Wilson House in the heart of Embassy Row will open doors to several new Washington Embassies and outstanding private residences for the 24th Annual Kalorama House and Embassy Tour on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Sponsored by the Friends of Wilson House, the program benefits Woodrow Wilson House a National Trust Historic Site. The long running tour offers an infrequent opportunity to actually visit sites of diplomatic entertaining as well as explore the many cultures represented by the official ambassadors from foreign countries who reside in the Kalorama neighborhood. Also open to view are some noteworthy private homes and the host site, Woodrow Wilson House, Washington’s only Presidential Museum.

This year we are welcoming on the tour the most recent country to be represented on Embassy Row, the residence of the Ambassador of Monaco. Architecturally and historically important this was once the home of President Warren G. Harding. The entrance to the house along the side driveway and is reached through an arched wrought iron gateway. Recently renovated, by previous owners, the interior retains the original character and configuration of open foyers and landings and flowing floor plans of the original design. After extensive renovation we are pleased to welcome back to the tour The Embassy of the Philippines.

Attendees will receive a tour program with a self-guided map detailing the architecture and history of each stop. The tour will be held rain or shine. Tickets are best purchased in advance for $25.00 per person; a $20.00 rate applies for groups of ten or more when purchased in advance only. Tickets may be purchased for $30.00 per person on the day of the tour. Offered again this year will be the popular pre-tour Brunch and lecture at the elegant Women’s National Democratic Club mansion. Individual cost for package: $56.00 per person. Groups of ten or more $54.00 per person. Advance payment required. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.WoodrowWilsonHouse.org or, call Marie Danch at (202) 387-4062, ext. 18. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are honored.
