This year, Central Market Arts, is thrilled to announce its 3rd year offering a region-wide, free and open to the public art festival, the 24 Days of Central Market Arts Festival, which includes live dance, music, theater, art walks, live art making, and more, all in an outdoor format.
The festival will kick-off on Friday, September 28th, 2012 and offer an action-packed variety of performances on a number of days through Sunday, October 21st, 2012. Friday, September 28th the festival kick-off, offers much to do and activity, including live music midday by People in Plazas, followed by a multi-block art walk (2 Blocks of Art) jam packed with visual and performance art, then topped off with two dynamic and innovative urban environment, multi-media installation performances by Flyaway Productions and Project Agora. Programming continues on numerous days through October 21st. All festival events are FREE and open to the public. A majority of events are in outdoor format to encourage all ages and walks of life to come out to experience art, activity and fun straight from the neighborhood it was produced.
Bringing art and creativity to shared public spaces makes these performances and creations open and accessible to all. This is precisely how the producing artists intend to present their work for the festival, so those experiencing the art realize the level of creation and dynamic work that produced within the neighborhood every day.
Various compelling performances will be offered to the public September 28th, 29th, October 2nd, 4th, 6th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st.
Performance venues include: Mint Plaza, Old Mint Building, United Nations Plaza, 7th St@ Market St. (next to Renoir Hotel) and the 6th Street corridor.
