Denver, Colorado

The Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is sometimes call the "Lunar New Year" by English speakers. The festival traditionally begins of the first day of the first month in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th. Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Lunar Calendar and is celebrated in areas with large populations of ethnic Chinese including Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, United States, Australia, Canada, and the UK.

Here in Denver, we also take part and celebrate alongside the Asian Pacific people with a great celebration event.... On Saturday, Feb. 9th, thousands of people, many of Asian descent, will descend upon Paramount Theatre in Downtown Denver to attend a great multi-cultural event....

For the 11th year in a row, the Denver Chinese School, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and Chinese American Foundation of Colorado present the largest Chinese New Years Celebration in the Rocky Mountain area featuring professional performers from China and the US, as well as local artists, in this 2 hour extravaganza. Last year, thousands of people attended the cultural fair, sampled delicious Chinese food, and watched a great show.

This years event promises to be even larger and better! The event includes Cultural fair prior to the show and Award-winning professional artists from China and the US performing acrobats, magic, opera and Asian folk songs, lion dance, Kung Fu, solo and group folk dances.
