Sunday 14 October marks the 35th anniversary of the running of the Melbourne Marathon Festival.
With an event to suit all ages and fitness levels, all participants will finish with a lap of the iconic MCG. Distances include Melbourne Marathon (42.195km), Flight Centre Half Marathon (21.1km), Coffee Club 10km, ASICS 5.7km Run and ASICS 3km Walk.
The 2011 Melbourne Marathon saw record numbers cross this finish line with 5053 participants. Event organisers are hoping to reach 7,000 finishers in 2012 to make it the largest marathon in the country.
Competitors are encouraged to raise money for official charities, Cerebral Palsy Education Centre (CPEC) and JMB Foundation, by nominating their preference when registering.
For a little extra motivation, CPEC is offering fundraisers that raise more than $6,000 flights, accommodation and entry into any other Australian running festival and for those who raise over $12,000 will receive flights, accommodation and entry into one of 20 running events across the world.
