The 2012 Community Tour celebrates those who give their hearts, time and skills to strengthen communities. The two-month program kicked off on May 12th in Miami, Florida, and continues up the East Coast, following the route of the East Coast Greenway and culminating in Portland, Maine, on July 7th, the International Day of Cooperatives. The Tour features eight major weekend stops in key cities along the northerly route, including Miami, Charleston, Durham, Fredericksburg, Wilmington, New York City, Providence and Portland. Additionally, weekday events including a Danielson stop, will take place at sites all along the route between the key cities. While events and activities vary by market, the overall theme of cooperatives, community service and volunteerism will be the hallmark of each celebration.

The June 28th Danielson event includes: A barbeque with the Cabot Riders and local cycling enthusiasts as we complete Day 48 of the East Coast Greenway ride.

Enjoy Cabot cheese and fruit platter served with hot dogs, Cabot Cheddar cheeseburgers, beer and wine.

Admission to the event is free and is open to the public!

June 29th, join us for a Meet and Greet with the Community Tour riders prior to their departure for their next major Tour event at Roger William’s Park in Providence, RI.

Danielson Officials will speak and be on hand for photos with the riders as they begin their ride from the Danielson amphitheater over the scenic Water Street Bridge.

WHY: The farm-family owners of Cabot Creamery Cooperative are proud of their cooperative roots. Founded in 1919, our farmers have always been an integral part of the communities they serve, supporting the places where they live and do business. The Community Tour coincides with the 2012 International Year of Cooperatives and is designed both to enable Cabot and its partners to promote the virtues of volunteerism—and to support the communities in which we live on a far greater scale. By honoring those who give selflessly to their communities, the 2012 Community Tour aims to encourage others to do the same.

WHO: The 2012 Community Tour was created by Cabot Creamery Cooperative and fellow sponsors and supporters, including 2012 International Year of Cooperatives, AARP Create The Good, Credit Union National Association (CUNA), East Coast Greenway Alliance (ECGA), HandsOn Network, Marriott, National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA) and National Life Group. Danielson Adventure Sports is the local event sponsor.
