2011 Symposium- Person of the Year: 1861 February 26, 2011

What person or group most influenced events in 1861? Let some of the best Civil War scholars of our time try to sway you and then cast your own vote at the 2011 Symposium.

The speakers for the 2011 symposium are the noted historians Ed Bearss, William C. “Jack” Davis, Chris Kolakowski, Dr. Lauranett Lee, and Dr. James I. “Bud” Robertson, Jr. The speakers will “nominate” one candidate each and their lectures will make their cases for the nominees. Following a concluding panel discussion, the audience will vote to decide the “person of the year” for 1861.
