On Saturday, May 14th, sailors from throughout South Florida will compete in the 2011 Hospice by the Sea Regatta, which will take place off the shores of Fort Lauderdale Beach beginning at 11:00 a.m. Sailors in various racing classes will compete to help raise funds to support Hospice by the Sea, Inc., a not-for-profit provider of hospice services in Palm Beach and Broward counties.
This highly anticipated annual sailing event is now in its 15th year and is just one stop on the National Hospice Regatta Alliance’s racing circuit. The winner of this year's Regatta will qualify as Hospice by the Sea's representative at the 2012 National Hospice Regatta Championship, which will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida.
After a day of racing, sailors, families and supporters of Hospice by the Sea, Inc. are invited to gather for the Post-Race Awards Ceremony and Celebration at 6:30 p.m. in the historic Maxwell Room at the Downtowner in Fort Lauderdale.
