~Celebrate the Artivist Spirit with the festival’s winning filmmakers, Artivist Award Honoree Kristen Bell, MC Dan Nainan, and presenters Rachel Bilson, Esai Morales, and Persia White.~
Kristen Bell, the star of TV series Heroes and Veronica Mars and films Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Burlesque, will accept the 2011 Artivist Award at the closing night ceremony of the Artivist Film Festival, Saturday, August 20, 2011, beginning at 7:00pm, at the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Bell is being honored for her philanthropic activities with PETA, CARE, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and others.
Actress Rachel Bilson will present the award to Bell. Also on hand will be Master of Ceremonies Dan Nainan, and presenters Esai Morales and Persia White.
The Artivist Award is presented once a year to a celebrity who has demonstrated exemplary work on behalf of causes for international human rights, children’s advocacy, environmental preservation, and/or animal advocacy. Past honorees include Peter Fonda, Olivia Wilde, Hank Azaria, Ted Danson, Alyssa Milano, Daryl Hannah, Matthew McConaughey, Joaquin Phoenix, James Cromwell, Mira Sorvino, Tippi Hedren, Mike Farrell, and Ed Begley, Jr.
Ten other awards will also be presented at the ceremony to filmmakers who embody the festival’s mission to strengthen the voice of activist artists – “artivists” – while raising public awareness for social global causes.
