The McLean County Health Department/Medical Reserve Corps disaster mental health conference will provide valuable networking and professional development opportunities for disaster volunteers and mental health professionals, focusing on the mental health aspects of disasters and emergency response. The keynote speaker is Dr Micky Sharma, the Executive Director of Student Counseling Services at Northern Illinois University, who will speak on Comprehensive Counseling; Response from Crisis to Post Traumatic Growth.
Workshops will include key topics of disaster mental health including suicide prevention, building resiliency, comfort stations, disaster after disaster (dealing with secondary trauma), and children's issues in disaster mental health.
The luncheon session will cover Caring for the Caregivers.
Registration check-in will begin at 8:30 am on November 6, 2010.
