Richland College presents the 2010 Carnival of Steel and Dia de la Familia on April 17 on the college campus grounds.
For the first time, Richland is combining these events in a huge, multicultural, free, family-friendly festival. Carnival of Steel will be from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Dia de la Familia will be from 12-4 p.m. The combined event will feature music and entertainment, free food, kids activities, health and public service booths, and college programs and services.
Dia de la Familia, which means Day of the Family, is an outdoor festival aimed at generating Hispanic interest in going to college. The Carnival of Steel features steel bands and percussion ensembles or bands using any number of steel drums from around the U.S. performing all styles of music from Caribbean and Latin to classical and rock.
