The Filipino American community in Arizona will hold its Annual Celebration of Philippine Independence Day event on Saturday, June 6th, 2009. The Philippine Independence Day Celebration is a traditional observance of the date on which Filipino’s declared their independence from three centuries of Spanish rule. On this day, Filipinos worldwide commemorate the heroism of Filipino revolutionaries in the long struggle for freedom against centuries of foreign occupants. The event also serves as a celebration of Philippine heritage and pride. By sponsoring this event, Philippine Community Organizations seeks to continue in its efforts to raise awareness about of the contributions of Filipino Americans and to also share the richness of the Philippine culture with the broader community.
Philippine Community Organizations of Arizona is a strategic alliance of Filipino American businesses. This is a non-profit organization created to support unity and leverage the strengths of its members.
