Join Associate Professor Laurel McSherry, Terry Surjan and Galia Solomonoff at noon on January 15th at Washington’s Union Station for a presentation of their entry in the 2008 City of the Future Competition, sponsored by the History Channel. Teams were given one week to posit and construct a scheme for the future of one of three American cities (Washington, Atlanta, San Francisco), and assemble their vision within three hours for an invited jury. Winners of regional competitions receive $10,000 and advance to a national on-line event. Other competing teams include: Beyer Blinder Belle (New York + Washington); GROW:DC (Charlottesville, VA); istudio/envision (Washington, DC); Maryland Urban Research Studio (College Park, MD); OBRA Architects (New York); Sorg and Associates Architects (Washington, DC); and Christian Zapatka Architect (Washington, DC).
