This is a free, open and public event for scientists, educators, students, journalists, bloggers and anyone interested in discussing science communication, education and literacy on the Web.

Breakout sessions:
1. Medical and health blogging, how doctors, nurses, patients and others use blogs for communicating about health and medicine
2. Blogs for the classroom and the lab
3. Open Source/Open Notebook Science, i.e. using blogs and wikis to collaborate on scientific exploration. Discussion leader: Jean-Claude Bradley of Drexel University and Useful Chemistry.

Science Blogging 101: A short intro to science blogging (i.e. types of science blogs, where to find them, how to read them)
10 – 10:50 Keynote 1: Duke Insitute for Genome Sciences & Policy Director Hunt Willard will share his experiences communicating about genome science. (See also AskBig.)

Note: As of September 22, 2006, we have not announced the specific campus location of the conference. We’re waiting to hear an answer to our request to use classroom space in the soon-to-be-opened Science Complex. Please check back in early October for an announcement of the location.
