Welcome to the first installment of the Starry Plough Latin Funk Dance Party!! This party is for all booty shakers and toe tappers alike. Presented by Oyé Productions, the first Thursday Latin Funk Dance Party will feature the funkiest of Latin influenced bands in the Bay Area and are guaranteed to make you move them hips ‘till last call.

The Sonando Project – This group plays a varied and unique blend of contemporary Funk, Jazz and Afro-Caribbean traditions. Their original compositions and arrangements fuse Funk & Jazz with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Afro-Cuban folklore and Brazilian flavors.

Their latest endeavor is a special tribute to one of music's most prolific songwriters, Stevie Wonder. Featuring Bob Crawford on Piano, Sam Bevan on Bass, Colin Douglas on Traps and band leader Patricio Angulo on Congas, this seasoned group of musicians mixes the rhythmic intricacy of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian styles with the brilliance of Stevie Wonder's chord progressions and melodic ideas. The outcome is a contagious sound sure to please Funk, Jazz, R&B and Latin connoisseurs alike.
Spaceheater – a combination of the inspired melodies and harmonies of woodwind artist Evan Francis and the rich, noisy machine funk of producer Bill Mitsakos. Their 2005 release, “The Record” was created in San Francisco, presenting flutes, saxophones, and clarinets over a bed of thumping beats and percussion, creating a lush sonic adventure for the mind and body!
“The Record” reached number 20 in iTunes’ top 100 best selling electronic albums shortly after its appearance in August of 2006 (a joint release of Alpha Pup Records and Daly City Records), it has appeared in playlists and Top 10 charts. It’s often held the #1 spot on independent radio stations across the US, Canada, New Zealand and Europe.
