Apologies for such a late topic posting.. but right on the heels of a great PRIDE weekend, we swing right into a more mainstream, US holiday: Independence Day.
But while the 4th of July, famous for family BBQs & fireworks celebrations, is a celebration of the political break of some aggrieved colonists with the crown of England, the symbolism for us today is about our freedom, our uniqueness, and the land which allows us to be free.
This week we meet to discuss the Purple Mountains.. metaphorical home of the bisexual, if you will. Perhaps it's easy enough to enumerate the ways we are unique, yet many of us have more freedom than we are willing to exercise. As bisexuals, are we as independent as we'd like or are their still untapped avenues for expression and association that we can explore?
On further consideration, it may become clear that being free and being independent are not the same thing.. not for Bisexuals nor anybody else for that matter. But coming out Bi, which many of us claim as the moment of becoming free, forces us to be independent -- never knowing how our loved ones will react. Are we out because we are independent or are we independent because we are out?
Please come and share your thoughts, feelings and inspirations on the topic of bisexual freedom & independence with your friends at BiRequest.
As always we provide the safe, non-judgmental space to let our freedom shine. Bi & bi friendly, all genders, no age limitations: All are welcome.
If you can't make it to the meeting, feel free to join us afterward "eight-fifteenish" for dinner at:
