1920s Hook and Ladder Ball: benefit for burn survivors October 3, 2009

On Saturday October 3, 2009, gangsters, flappers, dames, and daddies will take over the Sir Francis Drake Hotel for a flashback fundraiser. The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF) will host a Roaring 20s benefit to raise funds for burn survivors and honor Thomas Neylan of Menlo Park Fire Protection District, recipient of the 2009 Hook and Ladder Award. This annual event will ensure that basic human needs are met for burn survivors in California, plus support recreational programs like Champ Camp, the largest residential camp for burn injured children in the United States, now entering its 25th year. This year’s Ball will feature swingin' music from the Jazz Mafia All-Stars, featuring members of Spaceheater, Supertaster, and Brass Mafia, and cabaret entertainment from Elemental Remix Dance Company. Guests will be treated to visits to the hotel’s secret Prohibition Room. The 2009 Hook and Ladder Ball is made possible by event sponsors Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, Local 55, and Lightyear Mobile.

It will also feature a silent auction with diamond bar, live auction and raffles.
