Small Wonder is an invitational of small works by some of the region’s most prominent and emerging artists including local favorites Cindy Neuschwander, Matt Lively, Diego Sanchez, Mary Scurlock, Willie Ann Wright, Paul Teeples, Rob Tarbell and many more. For a complete list of participating artists please visit www.1708gallery.org. This year the works in the invitational will be available for sale (in previous years the works were sold through a silent auction event).
In addition to the Small Wonder sale, a variety of exclusive creative experiences will also be available via silent auction including a personal workshop with encaustic artist Lynda Ray, a guided Segway tour of Richmond’s public art, dinner with prominent Richmond artists, and more.
As a benefit for 1708 Gallery and the participating artists, a portion of the sale of works and the proceeds of the silent auction items will support 1708 Gallery’s exhibitions and programs.
The pre-opening sale and reception will be held at 1708 Gallery on Thursday, December 3 from 6 to 9 pm. With your admission, you will be afforded with the best selection and first opportunity to purchase Small Wonder works and place bids on the auction experiences. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the sale will commence at 6:30 p.m. The evening will also feature complimentary appetizers, cash bar and music by flamenco guitarist Leah Kruszewski. Admission can be purchased online at www.1708gallery.org, by calling 643.1708 or at 1708 Gallery starting Wednesday, November 4.
Small Wonder opens to the general public on Friday, December 4 with a reception from 6 to 10 pm. The exhibition closes on Thursday, December 17.
Whether you are hoping to find an original piece of art or an invigorating creative experience for yourself or someone on your holiday list, there is a small wonder that awaits you at 1708 Gallery.
