Enjoy wine-tasting, live music and Sonoma County's finest fare at Matanzas Creek Winery's Days of Wine & Lavender festival. This popular event takes place from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, when the Santa Rosa winery's one-acre lavender garden reaches peak bloom and its more than 4,500 individual plantings of the fragrant herb transform the property into a sea of purple.
Guests will experience new and limited-edition releases of Matanzas Creek wine, as well as a special menu created by the estate chefs highlighting lavender as a culinary ingredient. In addition, Petaluma-based ice cream purveyor Laloo's will serve lavender ice cream, samples of cheese from local creameries will be offered, local artist Donna De La Briandais will show her work and sign commemorative posters. Other activities include watercolor-painting in the garden, a showcase of the winery's lavender barn with demonstrations of lavender product-making techniques, a bocce ball contest, open-air Jeep tours of the vineyards, wine education seminars, massage chairs, live music and more.
Order tickets early as the festival sells out in advance each year.
