The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago marks 10 years at its current location, 1306 S. Michigan Avenue, with a free, 13-hour celebration showcasing regional dance artists and ensembles throughout its three-story building on Saturday, September 25.
“In the fall of 2000, shortly after we moved, we opened our doors for 1306, an all-day event welcoming more than 45 dance artists and companies,” said Executive Director Phil Reynolds. “1306 – Ten Years Later looks back to that inaugural event while expanding upon it to reflect our growth during the past decade.”
The Dance Center will host a wide variety of activities for 1306 – Ten Years Later, including fully produced performances, studio showings, a triple-bill FamilyDance Matinee, Poonie’s Cabaret, participatory workshops and classes, site-specific performances, photo exhibits and media installations. Anchoring the evening in the theater is the Chicago Dancemakers Forum Stage, featuring artists who have created work through CDF, a consortium that The Dance Center has been part of since its inception in 2003.
