12th Annual Masters Garden Tour - Sanctuaries of the Monterey Peninusla September 12, 2009

Enjoy strolling through nine private, two public and one school garden in Carmel, Carmel Valley, Monterey and Pacific Grove.

The featured gardens represent a wide variety of design and usage ideas and provide examples of Master Gardener sustainable gardening practices such as the use of water-smart plants and irrigation techniques, composting, and creating healthy and productive kitchen gardens.

The tour also offers a wide selection of short lectures that are excellent introductions to many gardening themes such as composting, pruning, succulents and native plants, vegetable gardening, bee keeping, container gardening and more.

Visitors have the opportunity to purchase Master Gardener-propagated plants and shop for books and handcrafted art created by well known local artisans. And be sure to try your luck at winning one of the many wonderful raffle items!

Every garden has beautiful, inspiring plant selections and original design elements that illustrate how one can transform an ordinary plot of land into a unique and personal sanctuary.
