The Faculty of Adult Education and HRD of the University of Pécs, Hungary, invites all interested HRD professionals to attend the 11th International Conference on Human Resource Development Research and Practice across Europe and to visit Pécs in 2010.
For the first time in the history of UFHRD/AHRD annual international conferences, the event will be organised in Central Europe, in the historic city of Pécs. Pécs is located in southern Hungary and since Roman times it was a regional centre of culture and education. The first university of Hungary was established here in 1367 and today the University has 31 thousand students.
In the global community of HRD professionals, the University Forum for Human Resource Development (UFHRD) and the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) fulfill a key role in developing leading-edge HRD theories and practices through the international network of universities, individuals and organizations. The Faculty of Adult Education and HRD of the University of Pécs is honored to be affiliated with these two prestigious professional associations and to offer the conference in 2010 in Pécs.
Global mobility of the workforce increased exponentially in the past decade and became a current phenomenon. This phenomenon is influenced by demographical forecasts that show evidence of extreme imbalances in the working age population around the globe and is facilitated by international treaties and labor policies that allow for an easier movement of people across borders. Scholars and practitioners have started to seek understanding of the issues related to global mobility and to address their challenges both at the individual, organizational and societal levels (talent development, brain circulation, global mindset, corporate social responsibility, corporate citizenship, global citizenship, etc.). The aim of this conference is to create a learning environment where researchers, academics and practitioners can deepen their understanding and explore the potentials of HRD in the era of global mobility.
The year 2010 is going to be a very special one in the city of Pécs, as in that year our city will bear the title of the Cultural Capital of Europe. It means that our beautiful historic city is expected to be even more attractive and interesting for all visitors, offering diverse cultural programs and events all year around. Thus the participants of the conference will have a unique opportunity to take part in the rich cultural life of the city and enjoy the celebrations – and the excellent wines – of our region.
