CHICAGO, IL—We invite the media and the public to Tree House Humane Society’s 11th Annual Open House and Memorial Lighting Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11th. Thousands of lights hang inside and outside of the shelter to memorialize those people and animals who have passed on and to honor those still with us. Tree House urges attendees to bring a photograph of a beloved person or animal to pin up inside the Rainbow Bridge Memorial.
Tree House Humane Society, a cageless, no-kill cat shelter, will be holding its 11th Annual “Lights of Love” Open House on Saturday, December 11th, at their main shelter, 1212 West Carmen Avenue, in Chicago from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Lights of Love includes a lighting ceremony which gives people the chance to honor or remember a beloved animal companion or person. For each $10 donation, Tree House will light a holiday light in honor or memory of the designated party. The lights at the shelter are symbolic of these gifts, and are lit during the lighting ceremony in the front yard of Tree House at 6:00 p.m.
This fun event will feature delicious vegetarian food, unique holiday merchandise, live music, a bake sale, a book sale, arts and crafts, guided shelter tours, presentations by our veterinarians, consultations with an animal communicator and behaviorist, and a silent auction full of fabulous prizes. Free parking at the uncovered parking lot on the east side of Broadway Avenue at Carmen Avenue is also available to event guests. A suggested $5 donation, or canned and dry cat or dog food, will be gratefully accepted at the door.
Nearly 350 people attended last year’s Lights of Love Open House and this year is set to have even higher attendance.
The 11th Annual Lights of Love is generously sponsored by The Cat Hospital of Chicago. Thanks also to Whole Foods Market Lakeview, Chocolate Inspirations, Steve Dale, and Alicia Halloran. We also appreciate Elle Musique and Thunder Bay for donating their time and live music for the event.
