This is a yearly photo challenge, where participants are asked to shoot 24 photos of a given theme and of 24 individual motives, in 12 hours, maintaining the given order. The series of 24 themes are revealed in batches, in locations only disclosed every 4 hours. Those who win are not the fastest, or those with the best equipment, but those who succeed in creating a consistent 24 photo series illustrating the given 24 themes.
A highly qualified independant Jury chooses the 10 best series. Four weeks later, over 6000 photos will be exhibited on July 23-24, in a unique Berlin location, to be disclosed during the Fotomarathon day.
The Fotomarathon is a challenge to spontaneity, creativity and also to phyisical resistance, as one hops around town from meeting point to meeting point to discover the new themes, but also to experience sometimes off the beaten path locations. Already in its 11th year, the Berlin Fotomarathon is organised by a non profit organisation that promotes art and photography. The event is known by mostly by word of mouth, and we have each year a few hundred participants -we expect around 500 this year.
This year the Fotomarathon starting point is at 11.00 am the Terrace of the Universal Music building (Stralauer Allee 1, 10245 Berlin). The registration takes place online at www.fotomarathon.de and the participant´s fee is EUR 27.
We have a bilingual website www.fotomarathon.de. The event is organised by a non profit organisation.
