ATLANTA’S STARLIGHT SIX DRIVE-IN THEATER CELEBRATES
60 YEARS AND A DECADE OF DRIVE-INVASIONS
WITH LIVE BANDS, HOT RODS, COOL FLICKS, BAR-B-QUE AND CORNDOGS!
Since 1949, the Starlight Six Drive-In Theatre has been entertaining city dwellers and has kept Atlantans loading up their hot rods for double features at this living piece of American history – the last of its kind in the Atlanta area. This September, the city’s oldest drive-in has reason to celebrate as the Starlight Six Drive-In Theater celebrates their 60th Birthday and continues their Labor Day tradition with the 10th Annual Drive-Invasion.
This year’s one-day festival will feature 2 stages, 5 films and 11 bands and countless pre-1964 hot rods. Festival highlights will include live performances by the First Lady of Rockabilly, Wanda Jackson, Nashville-based Los Straitjackets, the Motor City’s own Detroit Cobras, the self-professed “scariest band in the world” Deadbolt, and Atlanta’s own The Woggles, Gargantua, and the Psycho Devilles.
When the sun goes down, things will really heat up as the big screen features the 1980 classic “The Blues Brothers,” John Boorman’s “Zardoz,” the malevolent “Frogs,” and the southxplotation “Shanty Tramp.” And again this year, organizers will reveal a secret selection to surprise Drive-Invaders.
