Migdalia Valdes's Every Day in Black and White is a poetic documentary of contemporary urban life shown through photographs, film, portraits, and sculptural journals. Ten years ago, Valdes pledged to create at least one photograph a day for the rest of her life. Her commitment allowed photography to become more than a fascination, but rather, a compulsion, allowing her to blend both city and home, creating an intimate documentary of modern life. Vacillating between the journals and the photographs found within them, Valdes transforms what we see as ordinary into something beautiful.
